This
interdisciplinary course is tailored to the needs of Bulgarian
students, lawyers, and economists. It complements and upgrades
knowledge and expertise gained in the foundation Legal English
course, but equips students with a variety of approches to
overlapping and often conflicting areas in law and finance. The
course, further, aims to enhance the linguistic competences and
sensibilities of both lawyers and economists.
It may be of use for aspirants for the ICFE (International Certificate in Financial English) by ACCA & Cambridge ESOL.
Students are expected to have read the background materials, to contribute to class discussions, and to ground the topics in the Bulgarian reality. The following topics will be reviewed:

The legal structure of futures markets transactions. •Commercial banking. Financial intermediaries. Role. •Concepts of money and payment. •Corporate Stock and Stock Options and Derivatives Markets. •Corporate Senior Securities and the Municipal Securities Markets. •Introduction to Financial Futures, Swaps and Options Markets. •The current account. Interest bearing accounts. Netting. Secured Financing. •Balance of Payments, International Transactions and Foreign Exchange Markets. •Conditional sales and hire purchase. The finance lease. Assignment. •Balance of Payments, International Transactions and Foreign Exchange Markets. •Financing against stock and receivables. Security over book debts. Bank balances as security. Guarantees. •Asset-based finance. Securitisation.
